Da Writing Funk

Dear Diary,
Usually, writing comes as naturally as breathing. But not today. Today my mind seemed to go everywhere but on my current writing project. I was all over social media, picking on my brother with weird text messages while he was at work, and playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my 2DS XL. I really tried writing, and I even managed to squeak out a few lines, but my mind and heart just weren’t in it.
I know some of you writers out there will probably spout the old maxim “write every day, even if you don’t feel like it,” but for me writing is just not that simple. Writing, to me, is a conduit of passion – I have to feel it. Writing is a bit like sex in my mind. Sure, I could go out and just fuck someone, and the sex may even be good, but to make love with someone you genuinely care about, that you love, is immeasurably better.
And on that note.
You will never believe who sent me a text message today. Face Seat. (If you’ve only recently started reading my Diary that name means nothing to you, I know.) She wants to hang out. I told her no thanks and blocked her number. Quickly.
Bitch.
I was planning on making this a more extended entry, but I really should get off and comfort Anne for a while. She’s been in a funk all day because her tablet somehow got large cracks in the screen, and she’s genuinely baffled as to how that happened. I would get her a new one, but I’m still recovering from Christmas/Black Friday. I might surprise her when my royalties come in at the end of the month. She wanted to use her tablet to draft out a story she has in her head, too, which makes me feel even worse for her. I did tell her about Mobile Word for her Android phone and even set it up for her, so she did get some writing down.
I figured sitting down and watching some Food Network with her (who is absolutely obsessed with a show called Chopped Junior on it) might cheer her up a bit. You know, cause #GirlPower.
Until tomorrow, my beloved #Alexaliens…

Halloween Vibes and Self-Reflection

Halloween has always been a weird holiday for me. I mean, don’t get me wrong—I love dressing up, I love candy (way too much), and I love all...
